I just realized that Scott is not in any of these pictures! Here he is with the girls when we stopped at the Teton Dam on our way home from the cemetery.
It was a rainy, cold day. But we brought lilacs (from our yard) to Scott's grandparents that past away about a year and a half ago. It was a good opportunity to think about them and remember them. We miss them.
Last week Sam graduated from Kindergarten! I cried like a baby. I couldn't believe that my little girl was big enough to graduate from Kindergarten. Sam has had a very positive experience having Mrs. McCoy as a teacher. Before Sam started K all she would write were capital letters, in fact she didn't believe me when I told her that lower case letters were really letters too. But when Mrs. McCoy taught her that it was the Kindergarten way to write---she was sold! Thanks Mrs. McCoy. The highlight of being in K, for Sam, was riding the bus! To which she commented, "I've waited my whole life to ride on the bus!" (dreamily, with stars in her eyes . . .)
Samantha just had her first Ballet recital this month. This was her first year taking ballet and she has just loved it! These pictures are not super great, but they are all we got of her. I think that she is a natural at ballet! She is going to continue lessons next fall and we are also enrolling McKenzie as well!
About a week ago we got 2 baby kittens! The girls have been wanting a pet for the longest time and these little kittens are the best! They are stricktly outside kitty's. Scott and I are both allergic to cats, so as long as they stay outside we are fine. We just feed them in the morning and play with them when we want to and other than that, they just play together outside and stay right in the backyard. The boy kitty is named Oliver (from Oliver and Company) and the girl is named Sarafina (from one of the Barbie movies, of course, what else?)
Whitney is totally in love with her paci, I know she is getting too old for it, but until she turns 2 we are letting her keep it. Anyway, she was walking around the house sucking her paci, when to her delight she found another paci!! She was so excited she was saying, "Paci, Paci, Paci" and stuck that one in too!
In April we went to Bear World with my parents! We had so much fun! We saw lots of animals, including baby bear cubs (Whitney's favortie). Scott really was there with us, only he ended up behind the camera for the duration. The weather was a bit cool and windy, but we still enjoyed ourselves and we definitely want to go back this summer! They have rides for small kids ("free" with your ticket) and a huge open "petting" zoo with lots of chickens, rosters, ducks, peacock, hogs, and even some deer.
McKenzie is just over 4 1/2 years old and we have tried everything that we can think of to get her to stop sucking her thumb! Well about a month ago, she just stopped! One day she was a dedicated thumb-sucker (morning, noon, night, playtime, nap time, story time . . .) and then the next day she was done! Just like that! Upon being asked as to why she had stopped sucking her thumb she simply replied, "I just didn't want to any more." (while shrugging her shoulders). Needless to say we are so happy for her. She is getting very grown-up!
For Scott's 30th Birthday, which was April 25th, He surprised me with a trip to SLC! I thought that we were just spending the day together, but he had gotten the girls' babysitters and packed my bags and everything! We first went out to lunch, that part I knew about, and then we were going to go to IF to catch a movie and shop (or so I thought). We drove past IF and I asked where he was headed and he totally shocked me by saying that he got us tickets to the Ballet and that we were headed to SLC for the weekend! I didn't believe him at first, because I didn't have any of my stuff with us. But then he told me that he took care of everything. I was very impressed with his "packing" abilities and his attention to detail! He brought me several well thought out out-fits complete with jewelry and shoes! We loved the ballet! I was so moved by their beauty and grace that I nearly cried! We had a blast!
The other afternoon, it was just Whitney and me at home. This is a rare occasion. I was making banana bread and she was so interested. I sat her on the counter top and she helped pour in the measured ingredients. She also helped herself to a banana. She looked so cute with her messy hair and banana face, I just had to take a picture!
As Scott pointed out, we are the only members of his family (married siblings) that does not have a blog; and I am quickly becoming the only one of my friends who does not have a blog. And as most of you know I am still slightly anti-blog, so don't fall out of your chairs when you find out that, yes, Christina White has created a blog. Holy Cow. Hopefully this will turn out to be a cool blog, but it might start out sort-of lame, being as that I really have no earthly clue what I am doing--so I am going to be learning a lot!
Upon seeing the first snow this winter, Whitney looked out the window and said, "It's Christmas Time!! Santa must be on him way!"
I said, "Oh Whit, you have choclate on your chin." and she said back to me very seriously, "That's just my beard mom."
Whitney said, "Mom, Santa's favorite people are Jesus and the toothfairy."
This morning as I was waking Kenzie up for school, she opened her eyes and looked at me and said, "3 more days until you have your precious baby, Mom!"----Which I have 11 days until my due date, but having the baby this Saturday would be great! I hope she is right.
On the way home from Bosie . . .We were passing a field of sand and Whitney looked out the window and asked, " Are we in Egypt?"
McKenzie in her prayer . . . " and please bless Aunt Macie will get her hot tub and have lots of babies." Macie has been talking about wanting an out door pool at her house. And Kenzie always prays for her to have a baby. She is so thoughtful and concerned
McKenzie came up the stairs and said, "Hey Dad, What's that smell? (pause) . . . Oh, it's you." (He had been fixing the lawn mower and smelled of Gasoline.)
Whitney was "playing" with Dallas . . . she had his little FOOTBALL and was showing him how to throw it, "Like this, Dallas, back and forth, back and forth." ---While holding the football to his hand--- then she told him, "See? Now you know how to play BASEBALL!" Poor Bubba, that is what you are going to get living with girls!!
